Tortilla Sam's, Highland St. Worcester. College Hippie Chicks served mediocre-to-good Mexican while I plunk down a cooler by our table. Yes Mister at the next table, this is a blender. And yes, we're plugging it in next to you. Where else could you rev up your own Sauza margaritas while pounding a 12-pack of XX alternating with a brown bag of good dry Riesling and some decent Cab Sauv? Good times, and you don't feel bad getting a little rowdy on a weekend night. Te food itself was pretty decent, not great but a good value. And BYOBlender beats the hell out of paying 12 bucks for a decent margarita like most places around. Cafe Esspresso, Wall St. Worcester. The menu here shows higher than comparable prices that reflect the lack of revenue gained through alcohol sales. Still, all things considered, if you like a good Chianti Reserva and don't feel like paying the typical restaurant markup, this is the place to do it. The food was good, nothing too indulgent though. Our table was pretty close to our neighbors and the setting was far from intimate. Probably not the most romantic place for your first date, unless you're dating the town drunk and could only afford a box of wine and some chicken parm. |
